Teachers..HELP! Should i take pre-calculus my senior year to get into UC's even though i may not do well?

I have a 3.9 overall GPA %26amp; I've gotten A's and B's throughout my high school career--EXCEPT in math. The trend is the first semester I get a C, but the second semester I get a D. I've had tutors every year, %26amp; I try to study as much as possible but it hasnt yielded good grades in math. I've always done summer school and aced the math class I had to make up.

I took Geometry Honors in 9th grade, Algebra 2 in 10th, and then I talked to my counselor and she said I could skip math junior year to make my GPA higher. I took a College Algebra class at community college but i got a D. So I'm not going to report that grade. Now I have to decide if i should take Pre-Calc now in order to into UC's because they say 3 years are required. However, this may bring my GPA down, and it will be difficult to do well considering I have 5 AP classes!

Basically what I'm asking is--should i take the class even though i may risk getting a C or D, or should i not take it?

any advice?!

I say take it, and also readjust your attitude towards it. You're already thinking you will be a failure at math, and so of course you won't do well. I'm terrible at math, but forged ahead with Pre-Cal my senior year in HS (many years ago) and made a 99 every six weeks. I paid strict attention in class, took careful notes, and came in for tutoring as often as I could. You just have to WANT to succeed as opposed to saying, "Well, I know I'm going to do horribly, so why bother?" Know that you CAN do well -- you're no dummy, obviously, you just need to have more confidence in your abilities.
Reply:You could try not being a retard in math. That would probably help. C'mon, Geometry was the third easiest class I've ever taken (next to Chemistry and World Geography). Just make sure you understand radians and memorize the trigonometric relationships. Oh, and quit being a retard. If you can't do that, then go to some retard college.
Reply:That really is tough to answer. You don't want your GPA to go to down, but you also don't want to spend a fortune taking the class in college. I think you should go ahead and take Pre-Cal and just try your best. I wish I had taken it in high school, would have saved me a few hundred bucks at Community College.
Reply:You sound you must have already taken Algebra 1 in an Eighth grade Honors Class. I know at my school I have credit for four maths: (8th) Algebra 1Honors, (9th) Geometry Honors, (10th) Algebra 2, (11th) PreCalculus Honors. What I am saying is it seems that you already have your three maths: your eighth grade Honors Algebra, Geometry Honors and Algebra 2. Unless your school didn't make you take an Algebra 1, which appears off. Luck concerning this. I am a senior this year as well.
Reply:if you won't do well then don't take it. you can take Math Analysis instead or in college you can take what we call the "retard math" it really is just basic math like algebra and stuff like that. It helps you get ready to take Pre-cal and stuff like that. if you haven't had algebra 2 then you will not be able to take pre-cal because it is a required class. I am taking pre-cal now and I am glad that I waited untill after I got out of math analysis to take it. I know more than most of the people do that didn't take M.A. and most people fail without taking M.A. first. or at least most of my friends did. Best of luck to you and I hope that you can decide on what to do.
