Another physics question ( friction ).....?

Describe how friction is used in the situations below:

(a) A person (wearing normal shoes) walking along a footpath.

(2 Marks)

(b) A car travelling along a road. (2 Marks)

(c) Rubbing your hands together on a cold day. (2 Marks)

Thank you so much, you see i don't have a tutor so i'm relying on you guys alot!!!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another physics question ( friction ).....?
Friction is actually a force that appears whenever two things rub against each other

a) A person (wearing normal shoes) walking along a footpath.

The persons feet are rubbing againest the footpath so therfore two tings are rubbing againest eachother

(b) A car travelling along a road.

The wheel is rubbing againest to road=friction

(c) Rubbing your hands together on a cold day.

the two hands rubbing together means friction occurs

hope dat helps x x x x
Reply:Friction is used for different purposes in these questions. (a) and (b) reduce sliding motion while promoting movement. (c) produces heat as a result of friction. perhaps you could sketch a diagram outlining how the different surfaces interact.
Reply:Friction is important in (a) and (b) because the movement is not possible without this resistive force. That is why maintaining one's balance on ice while moving is difficult; the lack of significant friction (there is always a little, never none) reduces grip on the ground.

(c) Some of the kinetic energy of rubbing hands together is converted to heat energy due to friction, which helps warm the body on a cold day.
