High School Academic Advice?

I'm not used to having any sort of real trouble with school stuff, but, here I am, asking advice on it, specifically in chemistry. I am a freshman at my high school, and am not doing as well as I should be doing, getting, at best, C's on the quizzes and tests I take. I don't think it's that hard of a class, but, I'd have a better grade if it was easy. Should I get help? If so, what kind of help should I get? A tutor?

High School Academic Advice?
I think you should get a tutor and study with some who better at chemistry that you.
Reply:well, try studying more often. even more than what you normally to fr a test or quiz. yeah, you should ask your teacher if you could get an upperclassmens help, or a fellow classmens help, kind of as a a tutor. you could always ask that teacher of the subject to help you aswell. it sometimes is best to ask the person who really knows what they are talking about, hopefully.
Reply:As a teacher, I would make myself available three extra times during the school day: in the morning, at lunch, and after school, sometimes my planning period also, to tutor students truly interested and desiring extra help in science. It is hard to say what time your teacher has available that he or she considers "extra" and is willing to make available to tutor you. Get help as soon as possible, the sooner the better for you. Perhaps you might get a tutor also. I did tutoring on weekends as a side employment also.
Reply:Start with your teacher. Tell him/her that you're having trouble with the class and ask what you can do to bring up your grade. They will offer you the suggestions you need to follow up on and possibly it can all be accomplished between just you and the teacher. They may suggest a tutor or a study buddy also. The thing is, you have to express a willingness to apply yourself a little more and perhaps the teacher will be a little more forthcoming with tips to do that. Good luck and good job asking for the help you need. Some kids would just bury their head in the sand and hope for the best. You have the power to improve your learning so use your communication skills and ask for help!
Reply:Many universities have tutors who go to different high schools to tutor kids who need help. In many schools, kids come to a pre-arranged loacation on a university's campus to get tutored.

Check with your school about tutors. also, there are several self-help books for chemistry. Cliffnotes, etc.
