Please help. what is the cause of this?

okay so i am watching true life:i am a genius and it got me thinking...

ive always been told that i was smart. when i was 5, they wanted to skip me%26amp; put me in the 2nd grade b/c i was way above the otther students, but my mother said no because she didnt want to put alot of pressure on me. in 2nd grade i was in a 6th grade reading level. i would also help my sister with her homework(she is 7 years older than me) in 5th grade i turtored 3rds grade special ed kids.

in 7th grade while the other kids were doing review, i was doing 8th grade math.

now i am in 9th grade and i am doing geometry instead of pre algebra and algebra.

so anyway i realised that i sort of got dumber. im not as smart as i was when i was younger. i still love to learn and i still tutor people but i want to be ahead. so my question is: (i cant really phrase this)what is the cause of me losing my smartness? why do you think it wore off over time? %26amp;what are my chances of graduating early if i work harder?

Please help. what is the cause of this?
My son was also very very smart! He knew is colors and alphabet and shapes by the time he was 16months. He also was way above in reading! He's now 12 and still smart but he isn't like he used to be. You tend to not slow down but you level out with the other children I have actually read up on this where they did a study on children like you and my son. You didn't get dumber you are just leveling out if that makes since. If you were challenged more through school it could have very well continued your brain on the path it was going. But as you get older and there are more things like boys, friends, dances, etc your mind is still learning new things. So don't think you have gotten dumber! Just try to challenge yourself maybe get on the Internet and I'm sure you can find tests that you can take to challenge yourself. Your still smart the older you get the more challenging things get!

Good luck
Reply:Its probably that your being challenged past your ability. I doubt that you can lose your intellegence, but mayber you are being really challenged so that it doesn't come easy to you anymore.
Reply:my thoughts are either you are board in school and need something harded to do

or you may have a mild case of adhd

or you just dont sleep enough!
Reply:Maybe it's because everyone caught up to you. Or it could be that you didn't use your 'smartness' when you had it. I'm not saying that you're dumb...
Reply:Just over time you sorta dont feel like doing it, yeah you yourself wants to learn, but like me you have always been ahead and you just accidentally fall to average, its normal and you can still graduate early, i have two credits of homeschool and im graduating a year before everyone i started with but im not as smart as i was.
Reply:because maybe your not reading as much or something but whatever you did when you where young do now and you will be as smart
Reply:rest your brain it is bad to overwork it
Reply:Wow, you are really smart.

Anyway, algebra is really difficult but don't worry you are still smart.
Reply:People's brains mature at different rates, so while yours was an early bloomer, your peers eventually caught up to you. But now that you are in high school, hard work is most of what it takes to get ahead. So, apply yourself, and work on techniques to increase your attention span. Like, set a schedule for yourself where you work for an hour, and then take a 10 minute break to text your friends. Or pledge to cut out TV.
Reply:You aren't getting dumb, silly=)

Maybe you stopped challenging youself, and did mediocre, instead of your best. You are probably bored, but don't want to do the extra work of a difficult class.

Get enough sleep, eat breakfast in the morning to keep your attention throughout the day.

Take harder classes, and college classes to learn more, challenge yourself, and get ahead.
Reply:When your young thing come easier because we deal with them in every day lives! But we don't see algerbra or geometry every day so it becomes harder!
Reply:I had the same thing. The problem is that, since you've always had it so easy, you never had to work to get good grades, so when the work gets harder, although you are still passing, or even doing above average, you aren't working at your potential.

You haven't gotten dumber, you have just never learnt how to study. If you start up again, there is no reason why you can't be "years ahead" of where you are now. Although the very thought that people should be at a certain level by a certain age is ridiculous. These "levels" have been put in place by people who have never taught in a real classroom. Stupid beaurocrats.
Reply:OMG...THE SAME HAPPEN TO ME!!! BUT I GUESS SINCE EVERYTHING IS SO EASY AND EVERY1 THINKS ITS HARD YOU FEEL ....LIKE SMART AINT KOOL....WELL ATLEAST THATS ME BUT JUST TALK TO UR FOLKS
Reply:Challenge yourself more. Just because you are smart and you know it dosent mean that you can be lazy and just breeze thru everything. Try to do things that you know are harder than what you should be doing. Nobody knows everything and there is always something more for you to learn. Keep working really hard. Good luck!
