Is it my fault, should I feel guilty if I messed up the class curve???

Long story short... I'm a Health Admin major. I took a journalism class as my elective in college. I did really well. Actually so well that I had the highest grade in the class, the teacher was bragging about me to class, and some has rendered me a teachers pet although that's not what I'm aiming at. To make matters worse the class is primarily full of Journalism majors and to have done better than them really embarasses and insults the Journalism majors in the class.

I finished this semester as the top of my class and as a result the class curve was so streched out due to the high score.

u see. if they (journalism majors) don't make above a C+ they have to repeat the course.......that's just the rules.......they can't move forward unless they do so. Now this girl has called me to sarcastically thank me for messing it up for the whole class and that she has to retake it and she now wants me to tutor her bc 'obviously i know what i'm doing' according to her.

I feel bad.

Is it my fault, should I feel guilty if I messed up the class curve???
You know I dislike people that change the curve but basically because I am not that person. Do not feel bad for it, ever.

Always do your best and be proud of it, If it really makes you uncomfortable ask your professors not to use you as an example Just explain that it has caused you problems before.

If the students feel that the material was too hard they need to take that up with the instructor.

Trust me others that are mature respect your abilities

I look at it this way my inabilities or laziness have nothing to do with you.

Just make sure you are never arrogant about your abilities and you will be fine.

Everybody is good at something
Reply:It is not your fault. I do this all the time and I hate it when the teacher calls you out infront of the class. It was inproper of the teacher to do that. It sounds like that girl needs to spend less time calling you and more time studying. Keep up with the good work and don't let this stuff get you down. There will always be people who hate high achievers.
Reply:Don't feel bad. They're jealous. Their bad grades are NOT your responsibility.
Reply:Wow. Those people are so jealous. You're a nice person for feeling bad, but curves are supposed to encourage competition. Don't ever feel bad for doing well! Tutor that girl if you genuinely want to. Clearly she is just being a b*tch right now! You don't owe them anything.
Reply:Why do you feel guilty about other people's obvious slacking? It's not your fault they didn't do the work or did not study enough. I would say screw them and pat yourself on the shoulder for your hard work. A curve is there so that it shows other people that it is POSSIBLE to do well in that class, that it is not impossible, that if one person can do well anyone can do well. This is why curves are made, the professor makes this so that there is an indication on how difficult they were with the students that semester.

Your professor should not have said anything to the class about your grade, that can also be against school privacy policies.
Reply:You can't feel guitly...thats great that you did so well....Doing your best is always important...The teacher didn't need to brag about you but thats not your doing.....You give a 100 percent in life and you'll do well....jobs are going to look at your record and beg you to work for them....You should go out and celebrate instead of feeling guilty....
Reply:yes it's your fault...

now everyone is looking for you HIDE!
Reply:If you did that well, certainly not. And the prof may not grade on a curve (I don't).
