Why am I only noticed for the bad things I do?

I don't get it. I am mainly noticed, by my family, for the bad things that I do. I have a 3.6 GPA, an AP and honor classes, and perfect citizenship. Recently, I've earned my lowest grade ever on a report card, C, which was in Calculus. I earned this grade because I had to catch up for about 3-4 weeks lessons because we recently moved and it was a whole new school for me. I know that isn't a real excuse, but it's my real reasoning. I get grilled to the 3rd degree because of it now. Also, I've tried the tutoring ordeal, and understand concepts, its just that I am not good on the tests.

I try to keep to myself, since I'm a quiet person, when I'm around family, but they also grill me because of that. I know that I shouldn't expect to be recognized for all the good things that I do for myself and others, but I just don't see why the simple bad things that I do are amplified to a greater extent.

Why am I only noticed for the bad things I do?
Well if it helps, I noticed your question. And that's not a bad thing. And I think it's great that you have a 3.6! That's GREAT, keep it up. Maybe try opening up a little with family. I've never been quite with my family... or anywhere else for that matter! LOL ... which can deffenatly be a bad thing. If you need some one to talk to here's my aim address- hockey76tnkrbell.

Hope your parents and other family see all the good things you do! Just keep it up!

Reply:I said this quote before and I'll say it again

"DON't TAKE THINGS PERSONALLY"

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering." -Don Miguel Ruiz from The Four Agreements.

Try talking to them about it and if they don't listen don't worry about it... If you'd like keep a "Happy Outlook" note book.

Everything that you feel you've done well, or makes you happy and smiling write it down. Look back at it often to boost yourself up and keep filling it. Something positive every day.... a quote, a thought, the way water drops fall, the way wind blows through someone's hair whatever....

Then if you want (especially your accomplishment page) conveniently leave it out for your parents to read or keep it to yourself

Whatever works for you.

Ask them why they're upset in a rational manner... The answer may surprise you...

Kudos on the hard work

Don't stop just because someone is bugging you 'K?
Reply:Everyone is noticed for the bad things they do.

Its because making honor roll is expected of you and when you get a C everyone is shocked.

Or if ur family's like mine its because everyone's always talking about eachother and bad things are more interesting than good.
Reply:I think, for some reason, we notice more often when we are bashed than when we get praise. I think if we paid attention more often, it'd seem... maybe... hopefully a little different.

But, I understand. It's the same for me. And it is especially puzzling when I see my sister get a totally different treatment if the bullet is pointed at her.

I try to not let it bother me. =] After all, I'm proud of myself. Maybe someday they will be, too.
Reply:alot of parents (like mine) dont understand how kid operate during moving we have to start a whole new life and they expect us to tell them everything when all they do is judge us. a c isnt that bad just try memorizing the questions and answers right before school. alot of parents do look at the good things we do because they want their kids to do good things so they dont notice. when it comes to bad things we do they get mad and take it out on us because they think they took a wrong turn in life in raising us.
Reply:If your in AP courses your old enough. Stand up for yourself. Love me for who I am. Under the circumstances that is the best I can do.
Reply:There is an old quote that goes (If I remember right?) "Whenever I do something right - Nobody can remember. Whenever I screw up, no one can forget."

My point is, it's like that for a lot of people. You just have to keep going and trying, even when others keep bothering you.
