I just got a very bad grade on a test and it ruined my whole grade. I am really crushed...?

and I can't get it off my mind. I let myself, my grade, and my parents down. My overall grade doesnt average out and now I have a B. I cant believe this i am devistated, i know everyone tells me dont worry its just a B there will be other semesters, it wont do anything in the scheme of things, but thats not how I feel. I feel sad, and angry. I think I could have done better and I got an average of an A untill this C and the previous test; a D. All of my grades have been going down hill and I dont know why. I am really frustrated and that is why im rambling now. Please help. How do I console myself when I am just not pleased. In fact, I am just angry and I cant go on with these types of grades. I have gotten Ds on all of my past 4 tests for the month of January and I am awaiting the results of two more!!! I cant handle the pressure and I am usually an A student. I cant afford tutoring, my parents are never home, what do I do?!??

There are cases in which people have "test anxiety". You can do really well with your grades until it is test time. I would strongly suggest you speak to your school counselor. They may be able to help you with this and they definitely should know all about this issue, as you are not alone. I'm sorry your parents are never home. That makes it harder I'm sure. Stay strong. Good for you that you are as concerned about your grades as you are.
Reply:Your way to worried about grades. Lighten up and be a kid.

Reply:that happened to me. in global my a went to a b i was pretty pissed off but then to make my day even more my 94 in english when to a freaking 72, every paper i did in that class was an a i have no clue how i got that grade. i did every assignment in that class and i never miss homeworks. im not sure if the teacher told me the wrong grade but there is no way possible i got a grade like that. i did really good on that mid term too.
Reply:So you are not happy with your grade then you know what to do. Get organized, study properly(quit slacking) prepare for tests, try to do some extra credit if you can and then your grades with go back up.
Reply:Trust me;;

I know how you feel.

Well, is it the end of the semester/quarter?

If not, then you'll have time to bring it up.

Come in for tutoring, ask for help, STUDY. =] lol.

Don't we all like to studyy?? [NOT!]

well, if it IS the end, and there's no way to bring it up,

don't make yourself feel guilty and all that. No one is perfect.

Try harder next time.

Did you know, that colleges don't look for straight A's but the activities you do, and the clubs you're in?

Ex. Beta Club, And others at your school!

well anyway, good luck!
Reply:Sometimes just a few months along in high school, the pace changes in a class (or classes) and maybe that has happened. It just means that if you've been spending 40 minutes studying a subject, now you need to spend an hour studying the same stuff. Try adding a half-hour or more to your homework time for a subject and I think you will see your grade improve.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Just go forward with a different approach to studying.
Reply:I believe i have test anxiety, I freak everytime I have to take a test I can study for one hour or one minute and I forget everything as soon as I sit down. Maybe talk to the principal or counselor and give her/him your situation maybe they can help. Good luck and God bless.
Reply:Foreign language classes tend to get harder as you go. Sometimes no matter how hard you study it just doesn't click. I would suggest that you go to your teacher to find out if there is a tutoring program in your school. Also ask her/him if there is something consistent in your bad testing - vocabularly, recurring problems with the same grammar challenge, etc. - that you can identify and fix.

Are ALL your grades going downhill, or just in this one class? These are two completely different issues.

I was an "A" student too, but in languages I always made a lower grade each semester I took the class until finally, the last semester, it all kind of clicked in and my grade went up.

Don't be afraid to approach your teachers. In college, this MUST happen.
Reply:My parents (and me) expect a lot of myself. I've always had straight A's. Last year, (though this didn't ruin my grade), I got a D on a history test. I was so angry with myself, though it didn't ruin my grade, my life, or change anything. I had known I could have done better and when I don't do my best on things, it eats at me.

You are probably the same type of person. You need to ask yourself if you are really doing your best. If you are, you should be proud of your grades and be able to look at them and tell yourself that those grades were the best you could do.

If it's not your best, then you do need worry. Worrying urges you to study until your eyes fall out. That is the best remedy for this situation.

You need to apply yourself. If you have a job? Quit. (That includes babysitting, dogwalking, etc.) That will give you more time to prep for these tests.

If you have problems with the material (learning is hard to do if you don't understand things) talk to a teacher. Skip your lunch period and the teach can tutor you. Free.

The key is to do whatever you have to do to do your best. Good luck.
