Anyone doing the City & Guilds e-Quals course? I think it is a poorly thought out course?

Speaking to the tutors at my local college I get the impression that they too are not entirely happy with this course. C%26amp;G refuse to tell them what is in the assesments and yet expect the college to provide the correct study guides. I took my ITP assesement and found some questions had not been covered in the course work.

I am now attempting to do Level 3 Word but the Microsoft study guide is painfully lacking any kind of guidence and I have reached the point where I think I may as well jack it in and do a payed course. I guess its true what people say, you get what you pay for.

Anyone doing the City %26amp; Guilds e-Quals course? I think it is a poorly thought out course?
I sincerely hope that you fill in the feedback forms.

The only way that colleges and universities can give their students good service is by students being honest about the feedback about how the course did or did not meet their requirements.

Feedback can be given anonymously and students should not feel embarrassed about being truthful.

The Ofsted send inspectors to all colleges, universities and schools to make sure they are giving students the service they are paying for. If you prefer address your concerns to them directly.
Reply:I'm sorry to hear you haven't found your course preparing you for a City %26amp; Guilds IT qualification useful. We base the qualification on the skills and knowledge that employers tell us is most important to them. Because the assessment is hands-on practical assignments, employers know that people with a City %26amp; Guilds certificate can actually do the things that are important, not just answer questions about them.

We are very open about what the syllabus is and what you will be assessed on - go to www.cityandguilds.com/itquals to get all the info you need. If you feel your college has not prepared you properly for the assessment, you should first follow their complaints procedure - let them know you're not happy. If you have done that, and not had a satisfactory response, contact City %26amp; Guilds about it. If there are any aspects of the syllabus or the assessments that you felt were not good, please let us know so that we can work on improving them. City %26amp; Guilds doesn't get funding from the government, but your college may have got a government subsidy to run the course.
Reply:I did a city and guilds course a few years back and it was a total waste of time. I later did an Access course which got me a place at university, where i am now.

I am not sure what you want to do but it's a path worth looking into.
