**HELP**What happens if I withdraw a class after being accepted as a transfer student at a 4 year university?

I attend a community college and I'm taking 5 classes right now. I was accepted in a 4 years university for Fall.... they said in the admission letter that I need to pass all my classes with a "satisfactory grade" which I assume is like a C???? well, anyways... I am passing all my classes and getting As in all of them EXCEPT chemistry which sucks... the teacher is a **beep** and I don't want to mess up my GPA, I've never dropped off a class before and I always hated that dropping off thing until now. What should I do? what if then I don't pass chem. and the university denies me admission even tho' I passed all my other classes with As?

Would a withdraw mess up things? what if I change it to an audit?

This is a very small college and they don't even have chemistry tutoring here =(

I would definitely go to a school counselor.

He/she can tell you exactly what will happen

if you withdraw from that class. You should

definitely look into whether that Chemistry

class is necessary for your transfer to the

university.
Reply:I think the best advice I can give you is to contact the admission department at the university. Just ask what will happen if a class is dropped. Don't give them extra information unless they ask for it. They should give an answer and info on what you should do.
Reply:If chemistry is not part of your major, maybe you can take the class pass/fail. I believe a pass is still considered a satisfactory grade. You should talk to an advisor at both colleges and see what they can do to help you.
Reply:Speak to an Academic Advisor at your college! Advisors are there to answer those questions. All colleges have an Academic Advisor. You can also ask the register office.
Reply:If you are attending a community college and drop it, most likely it won't affect any letter grade. In Texas, when transferring from a CC to a university, the only grades and classes that transfer over are the ones that are completed. Dropping a class will give you a W(withdrawal) status in most situations. If I remember correctly, the university will get your transcript and they will mark that the classes you have taken and completed only and completely disregard withdrawals. The great thing about CC's are the fact that you can drop the class extremely late in the semester and not have it affect your overall GPA. If you do fail a class though, then the F will pass through and the university will not consider that class as passed. If you need more information, you should speak with the counselors from the school you are transferring to in order to get the correct information. The counselors at your CC may have a good idea, but it's not completely valid since it's the university's decisions that matter.
Reply:C is a border failing grade my dear.. You should aim for A's and B's.

Reply:You need to ask the college you're transferring to.

Or fix your internet so I can tutor you. :P

EDIT:

Okay, You're right, a C is a satisfactory grade. But if it's still early enough in the semester, you can drop with a W. (That is NOT a failing grade) If it's too late for a W, ask your teacher if you can get a WP(which is a withdrawal passing) if ya'll don't do that, then stay and tough it out for a C. IT won't hurt your GPA much.

Also, ask your college now about their policiews of D's transferring. if they are like my school, they give you the option not to transfer the credits in order to drop the grade from your GPA all together. So that could be an option. Just ask your school. (Is it U of U?) Good luck!
