Economics question I need a lot of help!!!!!!!!!!!?

Three college students are considering operating a tutoring business in econ. This business would require that they give up their current jobs at the student recreation center, which pay $6000 per year. A fully equipped faclity can be leased at a cost of $8000 per year. Additional costs are $1000 per year for insurance and $.50 per person per hour for materials and supplies. Their services would be priced at $10 per person.

a. what are fixed costs? rent and insurance

b. what are variable costs? materials and supplies

c. marginal costs? their change in output which would be the $10 they charge per hour per student.

d. How many students would it take to break even?

I don't get d at all I can't figure it out.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Economics question I need a lot of help!!!!!!!!!!!?
a. and b. are right

c. is again $.50 per person per hour for materials and supplies

d. breakeven point is quantity (number of hours) where the profit is zero (i.e it turns from negative to positive)

so you write "profit=0"

x*10-x*0.5 - 1000 -8000 = 0

and solve it for x. that gives you total number of hours per year, you might want to divide it by 3 students, and number of weeks that they work (52 weeks in a year, minus breaks)
