Should I retake Algebra 2/Trig or take it in summer school?

Hello,

Currently a sophomore in high school.

I am struggling in Algebra 2/Trig right now. I barely passed the first semester with a C-. And now the 3rd quarter I am currently failing with either a F or a D. I turned in all my homework, but the last time I got a 42% but that was because I forgot to turn something in. And I failed nearly all my quizzes and tests. And it lowered my grade a lot.

Anyways, I asked my teacher and she said it would be useless for the first semester since I passed and obtained my credits, so she didn't resign me into Algebra 2/Trig, but that was only after 2 weeks of the 1st semester.

So I just need to obtain my credits for 2nd semester and I actually want to learn the material. But summer school is useless, and we don't have much money for tutoring.

Would I not be able to graduate from high school if I actually have 1 year less of credits in math(I'm passing all my other classes though)?

Thanks!

Yes, you really wouldn't be able to graduate. Talk to your counselor about taking it online, rather than for summer school, or if there is another way for you to gain the credit.
Reply:I would retake the course. I always got A's in my math classes and thought i would get ahead by taking precalc during the summer. that was probably the worst decision ever. They pack everything into about 5 weeks that you should learn in an entire year. and its pretty much like math 24/7, and im guessing its not your strongest, so you would get bored instantly, and would probably not benefit you at all. So retake the course.
Reply:I'd take it in summer school. Pre Calc is basically a redo of algebra II, so you don't need to have the firmest foundation in the subject to do well in Pre calc.
Reply:You should really talk to your counselor about this. But retaking this class sounds like a good idea. If you want to pursue a career that deals with math, then you need this. Also if you want to get into a higher math class it's better to retake this. You may still be able to graduate high school depending on what state it's in, But colleges won't accept it. 3 years are usually needed to get into one.
Reply:If I were you I'd retake it next year. Summer School's a waste of time, which ruins the whole point of summer.
