Im trying ym hardest but still failing.?

im takin chemistry 2 for the second time and even though i doo all the work and go to tutors i still failed the test. it seems like nobody believes me when i tell them im trying because there is nothing to prove it. in high school i could do next to no work and pull off an A or B. now i struggling to get a C let aone an A...im ending my sophmore year and dont know how to fix it. any suggestions?

I felt this way about accounting. I had to change my major, but I'm ultimately happier.
Reply:First off, you should know in college they don't grade on effort. They may well realize that you are trying but that alone won't be enough to boost the grade.

How's your other college work going? I mean, is it just isolated to this class? If so, you might consider if you really need Chem2 for your major. If not, let yourself off the hook and take something you like and which likes you back (you know what I mean?)

If you must persevere, I would recommend seeing the professor to talk about what you are not getting on the exams. He or she might have some tips for how to approach the material, or extra work you can do to help get it. Realize though that the professor will get immediately and rightly cranky if you go in to argue your grade. In most universities, that is allowed only if the student thinks there is a calculation error in grading, so avoid coming across as sounding challenging.

Also, a trick I remember some kids doing from where I went to college. See if you can take the class at an easier university and then transfer it in.
Reply:chemistry is not for you
Reply:no one is good at everything, you have to find out what you are good at and take courses that relate to it. :)
Reply:Have you considered just not taking Chemistry?
Reply:The only suggestions I can think of in addition to what you are already doing is to study with friends and quiz each other; this sometimes helps. In addition, you could review just as you are falling asleep--sometimes that helps long-term memory.

You should analyze what happens to you in tests. Are you getting panicky? Does your mind go blank? Are you making computation errors? Have you gone over the test with your teaching assistant to figure out what kinds of errors you are making. Once you have an analysis, you might be able to see what you can do.

If you don't get any resolution, I would suggest that you rethink the Chemistry: Is it absolutely essential for what you want to do? Are you sure of what you want to do? Usually if students can't pass the introductory science courses they can't pass the later ones.

If you absolutely must have it, try it again in summer school when your attention isn't divided.
