Ok, I looked over these with my tutor at school and...he couldnt figure it out. Now I have NO tutor or teacher to help me finish the few problems that I have. Im taking classes online, so I cant get anyone to help me. I hope someone can help me with a few problems that I have. I want to learn how to do them as well, so if you can please give me step by step, so I can learn it too. I think, by the way the problem sounds, I THINK its supposed to be graphed. but Im not sure, I hope you can tell me. Thanks a bunch!!! By the way, I did try to do some of these by myself first. Heres one of the problems:
problem 3: In a triangle, the sum of the interior angles is 180 degrees. If angle A is three times as large as angle B, and angles B and C sum to 90 degrees, what is the measure of each angle?
More Word problems Help!!!?
since angle A is three times as large as angle B:
A=3*B
since angles B and C sum to 90 degrees:
B+C=90
and we also know that:
A+B+C=180
using substitution:
A=3B and B+C=90 we get:
3B+90=180
3B=90
B=30
we know B so we can now find the other angles:
since B+C=90...
30+C=90
C=60
and we also know that A=3B so:
A=3*30
A=90
A=90 B=30 C=60 ---%26gt;answers
Any other questions and i will be glad to help.
Reply:Is your tutor another student or a professional? Because really, he probably should be able to do this kind of problem if he's going to be tutoring you.
You have the names of three variables: the interior angles of a triangle, A, B, and C.
You know that the sum of A, B, and C is 180 degrees. Make an equation of this.
You know that A is three times B. Make an equation of this.
You know that B plus C is 90 degrees. Make an equation of this.
Now you can work on solving the system of equations. Since I don't think you're at the point of using matrices yet and this is easier anyway, look for ways to isolate one variable in terms of another, or ways to simplify by subtracting one equation from another.
You know the value of B+C, and you know the value of A+B+C, and that means you know A.
Since you know the relationship of A to B, you can get B.
From there, you can get C.
