My high school GPA?

I have had a 3.4 GPA throughout high school and now i'm a senior in my second trimester of school. And I'm struggleing with my PreCalculus class. Last tri, I wasn't, I had a B as my grade. Now, I'm at an F, I have a tutor that I meet with after school once a week, and it doesn't seem to be helping. I don't know what to do. My math teacher this trimester is a lot more strict than my teacher last tri. He also grades differently, my test scores make up 65% of my grade. Because I do bad on my tests, I have a bad grade. Other than tests, I'd be good. My second worst grade is my C+ in physics. Other than those two classes, I have 4 A's and a study hall. Do you think that my F will make a big difference in my GPA? I never had any F's, my worst grades have always been C's. Can you predict what my GPA might become with that one F?

My high school GPA?
Speculating here... If your GPA is based on 6 grades per trimester and you've finished 10 trimesters so far, that's 60 grades feeding into your 3.4. This trimester if things go on as they have, you'll add a 4 for each A you get, a 2 for your C, and a 0 for the F, and your GPA will be the total points you had before + 18 divided by the new number of completed classes, which would be 66.

To figure how many points you must have had before we can solve for x in this equation: x/60 = 3.4

x = 3.4 * 60 = 204

So (204+ 18) / 66 = 222/66 = 3.36

So I'd say it won't affect your GPA that much.

If schools see your transcripts, though, the F might stand out. Still, one F in a long and illustrious high school career probably won't be a dealbreaker for most schools.

Some ideas to improve your grade:

*Ask the teacher what you can do to improve your grade

*Is the tutor helping? If not, get a different tutor, if so, meet with them more often

*Look for a book or website that explains the same subjects a different way. Practice.

*Figure out why you're doing badly on tests -- do you get too nervous? If so, try learning some relaxation techniques.

*If you ask for help on problems here on Yahoo Answers, don't just write down the answer! Pay attention to the people who show how they worked out the problem and try the same methods on another problem.
Reply:do you need pre-calc to gradute? if not, cant you just drop it and tke an elective like foods?
Reply:Drop calc, the F goes away, and you don't need it to get into college anyway.
Reply:i have the same problem...i get straight A's and i took pre calc this year (im a junior) and i failed for the marking period but luckily not for the year but it still didnt make me happy..it will make a difference on your gpa but im not sure by how much.
Reply:You will have about an 3.0

16(4 As)+ 2(1C)+0(1F)=18/6=3.0
Reply:ud prob have 3.0 maybe cuz 4 a's =16+2(1 c)+0 for the F divided by 6 for the classes gives u 3.0 so prob not
