Can anyone give me some ideas about great careers using French?

I have a Bachelor's in French and International Relations. I am very well traveled (mostly throughout Europe) I have worked as a French teacher two years (2002-2004). I am definitely NOT a teacher, though I am grateful to those who love it and enjoy it. I am currently working for a great non-profit agency but would love to use my outstanding French for a living as well.

I have lived in Paris (just returned this year) am contacting different international agencies here in D.C. but so far, nothing. Any other places I should look? I thought of tutoring this coming Fall to earn extra money on the side, highschool students, etc.

Any other suggestions anyone?

P.S. I am also fluent in Swedish.

Can anyone give me some ideas about great careers using French?
translator
Reply:It depends on where you live, but you could be a court interpreter and get licensed for both languages, working free-lance where you can set your own fees. You may need to move to areas where French and Swedish are spoken. I know a court interpreter who charges $119.00 an hour for her services interpreting in the court room. I don't know what state you live in, but you can check with your state capital to find out what qualifications are necessary. Je'espere que vous ave bon chance. Auvoir. (I hope I spelled that correctly)
Reply:Best would be to work for the EU. They need intelligent people who are fluent in several languages. You could also work for an international law firm. Translators are needed, of course. Maybe get a job as a news correspondent? I wish I had such a problem!
Reply:You can be a Teacher that teaches French or you could be a Translator.
Reply:The international IMPORTERS/EXPORTERS always require such talent....esspecialy in an english or other speaking country/nation....including the technical aspects....(Local comp.'s and office employment...)....as well as newspapers....private tudors in the french language for those who fail and the differances between FRANCE FRENCH....QUEBEC FRENCH...DOWN-EAST FRENCH ( ACADIAN )...ETC.....but interperters are always scarce as are secutaries to transcribe....

Psychology - Door-in-the-face technique?

Ray is trying to convince people to contribute time to a tutoring center. He is considering asking people to volunteer 20 hours a week and then, after they refuse, settling for 1 hour a week. How will that strategy probably affect their rate of agreeing to contribute an hour a week?

a. It will have no effect

b. People will refuse at first but will contact him later to volunteer

c. It will increase their probability of agreeing to it

d. It will decrease their probability of agreeing to it

The door-in-the-face technique is when someone follows an outrageous initial request with a more reasonable second one, implying that is your refused the first request, you should agree to the second. Some people think it is only fair to meet halfway. So, the answer seems to be B. or C. I am not sure which one because they both seem like they would fit. My first choice is C. though. What do you think?

Psychology - Door-in-the-face technique?
Definitely C. People would almost never refuse and then bother to contact him later to volunteer.

That is why car salesmen won't let you walk out the door, even if you say you want to think about it. They know that once you leave, they probably will never see you again.

So a good way of bargaining is telling them that you are just going to leave if they can't come up with a better deal. It really works!!!
Reply:I'd have to agree with you, I think people would be more responsive on the spot than contacting later. If they opt to contact later, they might as well not do it at all, you know?

Parent Teacher Conference..?

Ok.. I'm so scared.. I'm failing One class and have a D in another. How do I pull my phyiscal science grade up to a F to a c or d because it's really hard.

How do I pull my Math grade up to an C or B. It's like every since the new student teacher I been failing, and my phyiscal science i get cnfused but then my friend help me with it..

It's like I get frustrated and pissed on my phyiscal science and I feel really stupid and i think since i'm stupid what's the point of doing my math homework..

I know i'm smart i have a 98 in chorus,A in spanish,of course a A in gym.. lol

but i only have A'a in three classes and then they are like a F and a D.. a low D :( how can i pull it up..?

I go to tutoring and everything, it's just my grade isn't going up fast enough..

I know i can make me have a C by report cards. And a D by report cards in Phyiscal Science

Parent Teacher Conference..?
Part of your solution is to find someone else that can help you. Not everyone can learn effectively from their teacher. Studying with your friend seems to help - you could try to do that on a regular basis (say, every Monday and Wednesday, for example).

Take a look at your time in tutoring too. If that seems to help you understand the material better, then that's a good thing - stick to it. But if those sessions are just getting your homework done and you're not really learning anything, then I'd try another route.

The real key behind all of this is that you have to really learn something. There's a difference between knowing what a rhombus looks like and knowing the different properties of a rhombus.

Don't focus too much on your grades (as weird as that may sound), but focus on getting something out of the lessons of the day. The grades will come, but don't worry about that so much - if you do, that's just another stress in your life that you'll have to do with. I teach at the college level, and some of my students are only worried about their grades - it's as if they don't care what they learn (or don't learn), as long as they get a C or better. Believe me, that's not the right approach to school. If you focus on the process (learning), then the end result (grades) will take care of itself.

Finally, believe in yourself. You said it yourself - you're smart! Just because you don't quite get your physical science or math doesn't make you any less smart - it just means you have to commit to those areas a bit more. But definitely don't get down on yourself because of it. Keep in mind that not everyone understands math easily (believe me, I know - I teach math!), so just because you're not in the top of your math class doesn't make you any less smart by any means.

Keep your head up! Good luck to you!

Canteen Question?

This is going to sound reeealy stupid, but...yeah

(BTW- I'm sorry if this is confusing but I really don't know how to say this.)

My school has a canteen,or dance, every month and there's one coming up on friday. I'm kind of nervous b/c this boy I like is gonna be there. I don't know if he likes me b/c every time he comes within 2 feet of me I squeak and start power walking in the other direction. We don't really talk that much, but I know his mom really well because she's my tutoring and honor society advisor. I don't want to say anything awkward to him at the canteen b/c I'm afraid that he'll just think I'm an idiot. I'm really scared to say anything because if he doesn't respond in a, uhh, NICE way then I'm gonna have to deal with him laughing at me for the rest of my school career.

Bottom line- Do I say anything to him at the Canteen, and if I do what should I say.

FYI-It's not like we're the best of friends or anything. We're just...acquaintances.

Canteen Question?
ohhh dayummmm girl! ok u no what i think u should go up to him and dance with him at the canteen beacuase ur gonna regret it soon or later because u will never know what will happend. u have nothing to loose and if he makes fun of u i'll punch his face in i say go for it =]]]

mucho love%26lt;3
Reply:just start up a convo and see wat happens! i fu nvr talk to him...ull regret it the rest of ur life! trust me!
Reply:Well isay instead of tellin him sumthin at da dance i say u should ask him 2 go 2 the canteen wit u cuz it looks like he likes u. Trust me everytime i walk up 2 a gurl and they walk away i just wanna know if she is shy or if she is disgusted by me. So i say u ask him to go wit u 2 da canteen so dat u can show dat u like him too. Well hope dat helped

b. making a clear distinction between genotype and phenotype.Enter away message text here.

c. dominant expresssion of some alleles with respect to others in the heterozygote.

d. indepedent sepatation of one gene pair from another gene pair during meiosis.

Thank you guys SO MUCH. it's saturday school homework. I really can't keep with the class so i'm really clueless on the homework. this would be considered AP bio in my regular school %26amp; they have tutoring but i have no free classes during that time so yeah.. thanks again.

A series of Genetic Questions due tomorrow..?
YOU KNOW WHAT PEOPLE?! do you know how HARD it is for her to answer those questions? apparently i have those questions on my homework too and i don't know who she is. and our teacher is extremely boring and she doesn't teach us everything and the information is NOT in the packets she provides us to read for the information. we just need some help. And a lot of people use yahoo for answers/help on yahoo because sometimes theres no other ways of finding the answer and google doesn't always give the answer we need. so stfu.
Reply:Do your own ******* homework you cheating **********!
Reply:This is sad! instead of asking people to do it for you ask them to explain it to you so you can do it yourself in the future. You may be able to Dodge the homework but what about the classwork?
Reply:1)The answer will be (e)all fo these. Explaination:

Alleles that cause an organism to die are called lethal alleles, where the gene involved is an essential gene. When Mendel's Laws were rediscovered, geneticists believed that mutants would only alter the appearance of a living organism. However, it was discovered that a mutant allele could cause death. When an essential gene is mutated, it can result in a lethal phenotype. If the mutation is caused by a dominant lethal allele, the homozygote and heterozygote for the allele will show the lethal phenotype. If the mutation is caused by a recessive lethal allele, the homozygote for the allele will have the lethal phenotype.

2)(a) XY mechanism. Expalination:

Some organisms have a gene or genes on the Y chromosome that determine maleness. other organisms use several genes on the Y chromosome for that same purpose. Not all male-specific genes are located on the Y chromosome.Drosophila species use the presence of two X chromosomes to determine femaleness. One X chromosome gives putative maleness. The presence of Y chromosome genes are required for normal male development. They can have a chromosomal arrangement that is contrary to their phenotypic sex, that is, XY males or XX females.

3)(a) Law of Segregation states that the 2 alleles of a character which remain togather in an individual always maintain their identity. they seperate out during gametogenesis(gamete formattion) but are free to come togather in the offsprings.

option b of this question is explained by a monohybrid cross

option c is explaines by law of dominance and option d by law of independent assortment.

hope i helped you enough!

What job would you suggest to someone with these skills.....look below?

Everyone keeps asking me what i want to do with my future. But i have NO idea. I'm in 10th grade. But i want to start thinking about my future career. what jobs would you suggest fora student who :

*Is an avid reader. I love to read!!!!I'm obssessed with two book series called Twlight and Harry Potter.

*My gardes are decent (mostly A's,B's,and C's in my classes)

*I love helping people. I take a class called Peer tutoring that helps take care of some of the metally/physically disabled kids in the class.

*I'm very observitive and dedicated.

*I'm shy but i could be loud/agressive when i have to be.

*I like dramah

These are a few things that would describe me.

I thought about being a writter. But i'm not very good at it. I don't have enough patience. So please don't suggest that.(I have a C in english)

What job would you suggest to someone with these skills.....look below?
Certified Nurses Assistant.

-Plenty of drama

-Helping people

-Have to be loud so the old people can hear you

-You need to pay close attention so they dont escape their rooms

-and you can read in between call lights!
Reply:It sounds like you would be a great English teacher. You have a love of reading and like helping people. Also have you considered being a special ed teacher. They are in high demand. It's hard to find someone with the skills/degree. It sounds like you already have the personality it takes to work with these kids. Get your degree in Education and specialize in what subject you want.
Reply:Try getting a job at your local newspaper as a proofreader, looking for misspelled words, or articles that are'nt worded right. (Lord knows my local paper needs one) the want ads look like they were'nt proof read. this could get your foot in the door, and on your way to journalism. and you could work your way up. Good Luck
Reply:i think some kind of teacher or an editor. i have basically the same qualities as you and am in 9th grade. i also thought about being a writer but i'm not sure... so confusing!!
Reply:maybe journalism or editing

(just because you have a C in English now doesnt mean u bad in english, if you say you like reading it will definately improve)

The fact that you are observitive is very good for journalism
Reply:Barns and Noble or any other book store.
Reply:a teacher or a person who have their very own service it where u watch kids ur day care service
Reply:Go work in a book store where you can help people find things and read while youre not busy..
Reply:You could work as a publicist or a marketer at a book publishing company. Maybe even work as an editor.

You'd get to read a lot :)

And editors don't necessarily do much writing.
Reply:How about nursing. They are in demand, and they make a lot of money.
Reply:Psychologist.
Reply:Since you love working with people and helping people you might consider becoming a Registered Nurse or an Occupational Therapist.
Reply:i think it would be a good idea to be an childrens psychotrist..or however u spell it!! they have to read alot to look up information, they work with kids and mentor them. and most of all there is alot of drama involved. but its not so much a big group kind of job its more of a one on one job, so as for being shy..well its just you and the child for the most part!! do some research and see what you think. good luck
Reply:Teacher, the drama would help with keeping kids interested, the tutoring would come in handy and you seem to like school.

But you don't have to decide right now, you will change your mind many times.
Reply:Library work - at a community college
Reply:Teacher ,physical therapist,Doctor, registered nurse
Reply:doctor security you could be ANYTHING uwant to you dont have to ask ppl if u wanna be a writer it does not mean i f you have a c in english you can be a writer of course you can be!
Reply:A nurse.
Reply:I think you've just described a perfect teacher. You could teach English, or drama. (And maybe do acting on the side - teaching means you can take summers off, remember!)
Reply:What about an English teacher? if you love reading, drama, and helping people, sounds like the job for you. I know teachers are known for not making alot of money, but i've explored my options and really the pay isnt so bad.
Reply:teacher (english, drama, elementary), nurse/doctor, psychologist, journalist
Reply:teacher, cna (certified nurses aid), case worker, librarian
Reply:you could be a techer helper.
